Incorporating migration ecology into the management of migratory fishes
I am a Diadromous Fish Biologist with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and PhD student in ECo. My primary work focus is on monitoring and restoring diadromous fish populations in Massachusetts and I serve on the diadromous fish Technical Committees for the Merrimack and Connecticut rivers. My research interests are broad but largely focus on the mechanisms and ecology of fish migrations and how this information can be applied to improve conservation and management. In my PhD research I am using acoustic telemetry and genomic analyses to examine how an important marine finfish, the Striped Bass, may be better managed to maximize the abundance of individual populations as well as recreational and commercial opportunities.
