The Southwest Fire Ecology conference is focused on understanding changing fire regimes in the southwestern states. Sandra Haire will be presenting her past work on fire effects (a project with adviser Dr.Kevin McGarigal and sponsored by The Nature Conservancy) in the context of restoring southwestern landscapes, in addition to giving a talk on her current project with co-PI’s Dr. Kevin McGarigal and Dr. Carol Miller (US Forest Service), regarding fire regimes in wilderness areas .

The conference will be attended by cross-disciplinary scientists with expertise in climate, fire-adapted ecosystems, and restoration ecology, and managers engaged in local and regional problem solving.
