Charlie Schweik co-chaired the 2nd International Association for the Study of the Commons’ (ISAC) Thematic Conference on Knowledge Commons at New York University

On September 5 and 6th, 2014, Associate Professor Charlie Schweik co-chaired the 2nd International Association for the Study of the Commons’ (ISAC) Thematic Conference on Knowledge Commons at New York University [1]. The theme of the conference was on “Governing Pooled Knowledge Resources” with special attention to the fields of medicine and the environment.

For people who are wondering what “Knowledge Commons” are, Schweik and his colleagues – law professors Kathy Strandburg (NYU), Brett Frischman (Cordoza Law school), and Michael Madison (Pitt Law) — working with IASC, produced a short introductory video available at [2].

In a related event, Schweik also has a chapter on entitled “Toward the Comparison of Open Source Commons Institutions” in a new book, Governing Knowledge Commons (Oxford University Press, 2014) edited by Frischman, Strandburg and Madison [3].
