Operating Buildings to Minimize COVID Transmission and Energy Use with Opportunities Post-Pandemic
This lecture draws on lessons learned in consulting with building owners, operators, constructors, and renovators working to operate safely and profitably in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Guidance from government and international health agencies as well as professional societies can be helpful but can also be confusing. This presentation will provide some interpretation of the standards in light of recent evidence and provide some guidance in thinking through the best practices to minimize risk. We will look at short-term approaches to operations, but also consider how investments to address covid risk now, can pay off in the long-run by saving energy while providing healthier, more comfortable, more productive, and safer indoor environments.
