Posted July 29th, 2008 by Roxann Cormier
Marcy Gladdys, a 2008 graduate of the Arboriculture & Community Forestry program recently competed in the International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) in St. Louis, MO. Gladdys, who won the New England Regional Tree Climbing Championship in June to secure a spot in the ITCC, currently works for Hartney Greymont, Inc., in Needham, MA. Marcy has only been climbing trees since 2005, when she took the tree climbing class (FOREST 102) with Dr. Brian Kane. “Before she started climbing trees, Marcy was a rock climber, so she had some skills that helped her transition from one type of climbing to the other,” Dr. Kane noted. He added, “Marcy’s a great person, an excellent climber, and a perfect example of the kind of students we have in the Arboriculture & Community Forestry program.”
