Project abstract:
My dissertation research combines local knowledge and methods from the fields of remote sensing, climatology, and ecology to characterize recent hydro-climatological and land use/land cover changes and the relations to current and future pasture quantity and quality in a glacierized Andean watershed. In question are the sustainability of the herding livelihood and therefore the vulnerability of a traditional culture and people in light of recent, rapid environmental changes.
