Primary interests

Environmental Consequences of Hydroelectric Dam Projects (Water Quality and the Ecology of Waterborne Disease). My interests focus on clarifying the changes in water quality and habitat structure resulting from the impoundment of lotic ecosystems in the tropics. I'm especially interested in ecological changes that affect emerging and re-emerging waterborne pathogens and their vectors.

Phytoremediation Applications to Restore Damaged Habitat. I collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of plant ecologists, microbiologists, and engineers in the design and the development of phytormediation systems to clean up (detoxify) contaminated water and soil; especially in tropical ecosystems.

Development of Interdisciplinary Curriculum in the Environmental Science. My research includes the design, development, and implementation of novel interdisciplinary curriculum models in the Environmental Science.
