turtle-imageAndy Danylchuk is creating an initiative at UMass focused on the use of video media for science education and conservation.  The demand to use video media in our collective disciplines is growing pretty fast, whether for teaching, research, client needs, meeting expectations of granting agencies, or simply creating a greater public awareness of how science works and why conservation is important.

This semester we’ve kicked off a discussion-based course focused on the subject, and in the spring Andy hopes to hold informal mini-workshops/discussions centered around some documentary screenings he’d like to do on campus.

In the spirit of sharing, here is a great video Tyler Gagne (ECo grad student) produced while helping Luke Griffin (IMS grad student) with his fieldwork earlier this year.

Please contact Andy if you are interested in learning more.
