The Selection Committee had the difficult task of choosing from a wide range of nominations and the high quality of these proposals earned Anita and Craig this terrific honor.
The Team-Based Learning (TBL) has been developed by the Center for Teaching & Faculty Development (CTFD) on behalf of the Provost’s Office. They have developed a unique Team-Based Learning (TBL) program to explore teaching and learning strategies related to team-based learning in technologically-rich classroom environments. As part of the program, faculty fellows are awarded $2,500 to assist in the redesign of a course, and receive regular CTFD consultations on pedagogy and technology; one-on-one and group support during course planning, implementation and assessment; hands-on technological training; and monthly seminar meetings throughout the academic year.
Fellows will utilize the two new TBL classrooms, which will serve as a model for the five TBL classrooms planned for UMass Amherst’s new Academic Building. The classrooms feature round tables of nine, designed to support three groups of three students each and a variety of presentation and collaboration technologies
