Knight-Sabin Forest

The Knight Sabin Forest is approximately 50 acreas and is located along the Pelham-Belchertown town line. The Quabbin Reservation lands lie immediately to the east of this forest. It was donated to teh Department along with Cadwell Memorial Forest but is treated separately because it is disconnected from Cadwell. Else it is quite similar to Cadwell in being dominated by oaks and birches. The area has seen little if any management since it was donated to the University. It is used by the silviculture class as an example of how management could be initiated in a currently unmanaged stand.

Directions:

Access to thr forest is across a private landholding to the west of the property or from restricted Quabbin reservation lands to the east. Contact the Department (413-545-2665) if you would like access to the property.
