Family Forest Research Center Hosts International Forestry Conference

Science for Solutions The Family Forest Research Center will be hosting the International Union of Forest Research Organizations Small-scale Forestry working group 2012 conference September 24th through the 27th.  Roughly 85 participants from 18 countries will convene in the UMass Conference Services facilities at the Campus Center in Amherst.  The conference will feature 64 talks ranging from "Economic and Behavioral Factors Motivating Private Afforestation Decisions in Ireland" to "Influence of the Household and Farm Attributes on Management Adoption of Smallholder Timber Production Systems in Gunungkidul Region, Indonesia". Keynote speakers USDA Forest Service State and Private Forestry Deputy Chief, James Hubbard, American Forest Foundation Senior Vice President for Conservation, Jerry Greenberg, and Small Woodland Owners of Maine Executive Director, Tom Doak will address the group, highlighting what forest scientists are doing to address the issues and challenges confronting small-scale forest owners around the world.
